More Than Software: How Community Helps Dental Practices Grow Faster

July 23, 2026

As a Referral Lab subscriber, you know our Task system helps you stay on top of your to do list and the reports help you drive improved patient experience and referral relationships. But you may not realize that Referral Lab is more than just software. It's a technology platform AND a professional community that helps dental practices grow faster by learning from one another. Not only do we provide support and training for the tool, but we provide access to peers facing the same challenges every day.

When your practice subscribed to Referral Lab, they weren't bringing in a software that automatically inputs referral data or follows up with patients. Instead, you brought in a tool that helps you manage your referred patients and referring providers with instant reporting. Your practice had to adapt to the new process of tracking referrals and updating records.

Introduce the idea that software alone doesn't drive growth. It holds the members of the team accountable and the best practices that use the tool are ones where all the team members are using it equally. The software provides the structure for the team to see the referral data and to implement strategies based on the data. While many speciality practices have the same struggles or areas of opportunity, there isn't always a place to connect with each other to hear about each other's solutions.

Has your practice tried to use the new Referral Inbox so you needed to share the link for the online referral form on your practice website with your referring providers? How have you introduced this new way to send referrals? Would you find it helpful to hear from others what has been successful for them? Referral Lab users can connect with each other in our Facebook Group, our in person courses, and even on our monthly master mind calls. We like to connect people in the same roles to offer peer to peer learning opportunities. One great example of this is our newest in person course, Marketing Strategies for Referral-Based Growth. We brought together 14 marketing team members from 11 different specialty practices to learn how to grow their inbound referrals. We had someone who is currently a Professional Relationship Manager for a multilocation practice teaching the course. The attendees were able to learn from her but also from each other throughout the two day workshop.

During our monthly mastermind calls, we invite people in the same role from different practices and different markets to talk about a specific topic in a small group. The group members themselves bring the topics or questions for the group to review together. We are simply there to facilitate the conversation and provide the space for it to take place. The call does not always need to revolve around Referral Lab, but Referral Lab reports and insights are often cited as part of strategic decisions in their roles. For example, one of our mastermind groups spent one of their meetings talking about best strategies when the practice adds a new associate. They are able to help the associate grow their referring practitioners with the Referral Lab reports and they share their approaches to help the associate become a part of the team.

Our mastermind calls are powerful, but they take place once a month for an hour during a Zoom meeting. You may be looking for suggestions or help outside of that time and our Facebook Group for Referral Lab users is a great place to start. We are always happy to schedule a call, answer an email, but you may be in a position only someone else in your role would really understand. The Facebook Group allows all of our subscribers to post, ask questions, get feedback, learn about updates to Referral Lab, and even hear about our newest blog post! When you have had a big win at work and none of your friends really understand your victory, you can bring it to the group and quickly find a whole group of people who understand. Immediate access to peer support without having to wait for an in person training or a mastermind call is the focus of having the Facebook Group. (Are you a member of it yet? Ask us about it if you aren't.)

You may have heard the old saying, "The fastest way to solve a problem is to learn from someone who has already solved it." Referral Lab's user community is full of solutions to your problems or a place to share your hard earned knowledge. We offer you a tool to help your practice grow and your team to improve their efficiency but we did not stop there. Referral Lab brings change to the practice and those changes are easier to maintain when you don't have to reinvent the wheel to adapt. We know our users are part of the top performing practices so there is a wealth of information in our community.
